Are you loving our summer bundt cake series so far? I know we have been enjoying each and every one of these, so that’s a solid YES around here! We’re back again with the best orange bundt cake with orange glaze. I knew we needed to have something orange in our lineup, and this bundt cake fits the bill perfectly. Let’s dive right in!

Ingredients for an Orange Bundt Cake

For my delicious orange bundt cake recipe, I wanted to keep things simple and tasty. I started with my Orange Creamsicle cake base from my first cookbook, Cake Confidence. If you haven’t purchased my second cookbook (NEW!) it’s been such a great success so far, and I’d love for you to join in on all the fun! You can order it here (I’ll Bring the Cake). For the best orange bundt cake with orange glaze, here’s what you’ll need:

  • Buttermilk
  • Sour Cream
  • Egg Whites
  • Vegetable Oil
  • Vanilla
  • Orange Extract (optional)
  • Orange Juice
  • Orange Zest
  • White Cake Mix
  • All Purpose Flour

Hand-whisk everything together in a bowl, sift in the dry ingredients, pour into the bundt pan, and you’re all good to go! This is SUCH an easy recipe.

What Bundt Pan Should I Use?

I personally used this one HERE, but you can use any bundt pan! You can even split the batter into mini bundt pans if you’d like. Either way you’re set for success with this recipe.

How to make the orange glaze

It only takes three ingredients to make this simple glaze, and it’s all about balancing them out to make the consistency you’d like for your bundt cake. Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Orange Juice
  • Orange Zest
  • Powdered Sugar

That’s it! You’ll need WAY less juice than you think. Start out with what I have in the recipe below, then adjust the consistency from there. Stir it together with a whisk or fork in a small bowl – no stand mixer is needed. You do not need to do neat drips – you can just pour it over the top all over if you’d like. Bundt cakes are fun like that!

Tip: If it’s too thick, add in a tiny bit more orange juice. If it’s too thin, add in 1/2 cup more powdered sugar.

Here’s a quick video of some of the process:

That’s it! I cannot wait for you to try this one – it’s so fresh and light, and that glaze is just to die for! If you make a bundt cake from my summer bundt cake series, I’d love to see it! Make sure to tag me here on @bakingwithblondie or #bakingwithblondie so I can see it and join in on all the fun.

Happy Baking!

Tender orange bundt cake made with orange juice and fresh orange zest, topped with a deliciously zesty orange glaze.
Servings: 12 Slices

Ingredients

Orange Bundt Cake

  • 1/2 cup buttermilk, room temperature
  • 2/3 cup sour cream , room temperature
  • 4 large egg whites , room temperature
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
  • zest from 1 whole orange (about 2 Tablesoons)
  • 2 teaspoons orange extract , *optional, but certainly adds a lot more flavor
  • 1 Tablespoon vanilla
  • 1-2 drops orange gel coloring
  • 1/4 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 15.25oz White Cake Mix, I used Duncan Hines Brand

Zesty Orange Glaze

  • 3 Tablespoons orange juice
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest

Garnish

  • sliced fresh oranges & orange zest

Equipment

  • bundt pan

Instructions

For the Orange Bundt Cake

  • Preheat oven to 325 degrees and prep bundt pan with a swipe of shortening and dust of flour (or baking spray, etc). Set aside.
  • In a large bowl, hand whisk together all the ingredients except for the cake mix, flour. Sift in the flour and cake mix and gently stir to combine.
  • Spread into the prepared bundt pan. Bake for 27-32 minutes until the cake is baked through completely, let cool in the pan for 30 seconds, then flip the bundt cake out onto a wire rack to cool completely..

For the Orange Glaze and Assembly

  • Whisk together all the ingredients in a small bowl. If it's looking too thin, add in 1/2 cup of powdered sugar. If it's looking too thick, add in 1 teaspoon of lemon juice. A more thin glaze will be more translucent and a thicker glaze will be more white, so it's up to you!
  • Add on the glaze with a spoon or squeeze bottle. Sprinkle on more zest if desired, then place on orange slices for decoration.
