This incredibly moist and delicious chocolate chip banana bundt cake is about to become a new go-to favorite at your house! How do I know? Because I made it less than 24 hours ago and there’s only ONE slice left on our counter. I think that’s a new record!

Banana Cake or Bread?

Story time. I originally set out to make a banana bread that would use my new Dolly Parton Banana Cake mix, but my bread loaf pan was already in the oven with some chicken I was baking up for some enchiladas for dinner. I decided last-minute to toss my batter right into my bundt pan instead. Although I can’t say this is technically a “bread”, it’s made exactly like I would have for banana bread, but in a different pan, so call it what you want. I’m calling it my chocolate chip banana bread bundt cake :). It could be both! Either way, it’s the tastiest, most moist banana bake I think I’ve ever had.

Use up those bananas

This is a PERFECT way to use of those browning bananas. I prefer my bananas to be almost all the way brown before using them. There’s lots of great flavor that way! I put two bananas in the ingredients, but if you have three small ones or one large one, if it equals about a cup, you should be all set.

Bundt pan

The type of bundt pan you use might change the baking time slightly. This depends on the size and finish. The one I used is pretty similar to this one. You may need to add on a teeny bit more baking time. For our chocolate chip banana bundt cake here, you’ll need one batch of batter per one bundt pan.

Sinking Chocolate Chips?

For the chocolate chips, they look like they’re all on the top of the slice, but they’re actually all gathered on the bottom! They sunk during baking, which doesn’t bother me. But if you want them to be more evenly distributed, you can totally toss the chocolate chips in a bowl of flour before adding them to your batter. This helps the chocolate chips not sink to the bottom.

I used semi-sweet chocolate chips here, but you can certainly use mini chips or milk chocolate chips here instead.

Which cake mix can I use?

I used the Dolly Parton Duncan Hines mix, but that seems to be a limited time promo option. If you can’t find it (because it keeps selling out everywhere!), you can always use a white cake mix instead. You may need to add a little bit of banana extract for more flavor, and it may not be as “buttery” tasting as this one, but it will still be delicious! But if you can find it – it’s DELICIOUS!!!

If you do the white cake mix instead, it will be more similar in color to my Banana Cake here. So not as dark, but still super tasty, I’m sure!

Just LOOK at that moist decadent cake! I LOVE how delicious this cake was with little effort, and very few ingredients. This cake will for sure be a go-to for last minute desserts for company, an easy breakfast cake, or even just a tasty after-school snack for my boys. They loved this cake so much – I can’t believe how quickly it disappeared around here!

I cannot wait for you to try this bundt cake! It’s chocolate banana perfection and will definitely be one of your new favorites to cycle back to over and over again.

As always, if you make a Baking with Blondie inspired creation, I’d love to see it! Make sure to tag me @bakingwithblondie or #bakingwithblondie on Instagram so I can join in on all the fun.

Happy baking!
