With Thanksgiving happening this month, I thought it would be fun to share some of my favorite recipes that highlight one of Thanksgiving’s most popular dessert: PIE! However, these cakes are all classic twists on some of our favorite pies, so they will satisfy the most tough cake critic, as well as those who are heart-set on having pie this Thanksgiving. We love both desserts, and truly enjoy having them in both pie and cake form!

I know out of this list of cakes that taste just as delicious as they look, you’re sure to find one (or all) that you will absolutely LOVE making and sharing with your family this Thanksgiving season.

FRENCH SILK PIE CAKE

With dark chocolate cake layers, Oreo crust, a chocolate pudding filling, vanilla bean buttercream, and chocolate shards/curls, this cake is honestly one of our favorites to date!

PUMPKIN PIE CAKE

I know I already have a pumpkin cake in my cookbook, and that one is mighty delicious. I paired that one with my browned butter maple buttercream and it is TO DIE FOR! This time, I wanted to echo as many of the classic pumpkin pie flavors as possible, without messing around with the flavor profile too much. I’ve used my pumpkin pie cake (which so many of you have made and loved so far – thank you!) and it is a pretty dense cake – but in the best way possible. It’s texture is very similar to pumpkin pie, and is one of the most moist cakes in my repertoire. It was all on purpose, I assure you, and I don’t have the heart to make it fluffier. Once you’ll try it, you’ll see.

BANANA CREAM PIE CAKE

The soft banana pudding sits on a bed of vanilla wafer crust, and is topped with a fluffy vanilla cream topping and fresh banana slices. I mean, how could I not turn it into a cake? Everything I love about banana cream pie is in this cake: the vanilla wafer crust, the soft banana pudding, sweet banana cake layers, and a soft vanilla bean buttercream. I topped this cake off with fresh bananas, but you could always use dried banana chips if you’re making this cake in advance. It tastes exactly like a banana cream pie – maybe even better!

KEY LIME PIE CAKE

Graham Cracker Crust, Key Lime Cake, and Key Lime Buttercream, and a light graham cracker dust on the outside pull together all our favorite key lime pie cake flavors in one epic cake! This one has been made hundreds of thousands of times by BwB followers, and I know you’ll love it (if you haven’t made it already). 😉

BOSTON CREAM PIE CAKE

The ruffles of chocolate are hard to resist, and underneath is a soft vanilla cake and an easy-to-whip-up french vanilla pudding! You could serve this with a drizzle of dark chocolate for that classic Boston Cream Pie ganache topping, but if not, there’s already a bunch of that sinfully delicious ganache right in the buttercream.

APPLE PIE CAKE

Soft cinnamon cake layers, frosted in brown butter vanilla bean buttercream, filled with apple pie filling and a hearty apple crumble, topped with a heavenly cinnamon ganache and buttery pie crust leaves, this cake is everything I dreamed it would be, and then some. Serve it a la mode, for an added “apple crisp” flair, and you have some of my favorite fall flavors right in your kitchen. Whether you call it an Apple Pie Cake or Apple Crisp Cake — it’s a bit of both, so it can totally go both ways!

BERRY COBBLER CAKE

With soft almond vanilla bean cake layers studded with pockets of fresh berries, a gorgeous berry compote filling, an oatmeal crumble layer baked right onto the cake and around the outside for garnish, vanilla bean buttercream with a touch of cinnamon, and a handful of fresh berries on top, this cake is certain to become one of your very favorites to make any season! It tastes just like triple berry pie, and adding the crumble on top really makes it something truly special for Thanksgiving this year.

APPLE PIE COBBLER CUPCAKES

I’ve turned one of my favorite fall cake flavors into cupcakes! With cinnamon cake, apple pie filling, browned butter buttercream, apple pie crumble, a cinnamon drizzle, and a baked pie leaf on top, this cupcake will seriously become your newest favorite fall baking obsession!

LEMON MERINGUE PIE CAKE

There are so many soft and beautiful textures in this lovely cake. Lemon is the star of the show, and I couldn’t help but coat the entire cake with meringue like a lemon meringue pie. The meringue is best enjoyed the day of, so I’d add on the meringue right on the buttercream layer within an hour of serving. Toasting the meringue is a must, so get that kitchen torch ready. Each bite has zesty lemon cake, soft lemon curd filling, vanilla bean buttercream, and of course the cloud-like meringue. It’s love at first bite, and one of our absolute favorites. This would be lovely served with fresh berries, too.

PEACH CRISP CUPCAKES

Some of our favorite peach treats are peach crisp/cobbler with vanilla bean ice cream. I love the way the soft warm peaches melt in with the vanilla bean ice cream, but most of all, I love the texture from the crumble baked right on top of the peach crisp. I always double the crumble recipe on top for this very reason. Inspired by peach cobbler, these peach cupcakes can be made with frozen peaches year round!
