How to Make Edible Bows For Cake Decorating
It’s so much fun to decorate cakes for Valentine’s Day – but let’s make it simple and tasty, shall we? I love the trend of using bows on our vintage-style cakes, but I wanted to try using bows made of candy this time. After all, it’s more fun eating the cake – may as well be able to eat every bit of it, right? We’re using one kind of candy for this impactful decoration style, and I can’t wait to show it to you.
How to made edible bows for cake decorating
I originally thought I’d try this idea with rolled fondant, but trust me, this is SO much easier – and more tasty! I used Twizzler Pull Apart licorice, but anything similar will be perfect.
First, decorate your cake vintage-style – or plain, it’s up to you!
Next, make your bows by twisting the twizzlers into a bow – you can either tie them like a shoelace or fold the circle over and press down (video below).
Last, add a touch of buttercream to the side of your cake and press on the bow. That’s it!
Isn’t she cute? Kind of a Mary Poppins vibe, but I love how simple and darling the red is with the white. I also pressed on a few red valentine’s sprinkle hearts.
Here’s a video of the process:
That’s it! I can’t wait for you to try this one – it’s so fun! Make sure to tag me @bakingwithblondie #bakingwithblondie so I can join in on all the fun 🙂
As always, happy caking!
